Students in Mrs. Kim Harken’s 7th grade reading class celebrated World Read Aloud Day by choosing poetry, voice blocking the poem, and recording the poem with Mrs. Lynn Cronk’s 3rd grade students using Fotobabble. Mrs. Harken had students practice using the tech tool the day before to help alleviate any last minute glitches. The 7th graders not only served as reading mentors, they were able to share and show a new tech tool to their 3rd grade partners. The students read together, they practiced, and they published. Mrs. Harken was pleased with the creation,”I enjoyed watching them work together deciding who was going to read what part of the poem and how they were going to read it.” Mrs. Kim Harken is always willing to utilize the ideas I share. She is relentless in her quest to support students and make learning meaningful. She is a passionate educator and leader, and I appreciate the times we work together exploring the endless opportunity for technology integration to support student learning and creativity.
