PLAEA’s Hour of Code

PLAEA’s Hour of Code

Last summer when I was trained as an affiliate for Code.org I made it my goal to get coding, in some capacity, into all of our Prairie Lakes districts within two years. We have some awesome educators who are leading the charge in their own districts, we’ve provided some workshop opportunities, and we’re sharing the coding love, and mid-way through year one, I’m proud to share this map of PLAEA school districts that participated in the 2015 Hour of Code! K-12 kids all across the agency were given an opportunity to code – to play, create, explore, problem solve. Hundreds of students celebrated computer science and the opportunity to change not just how we think about technology, but how we can change the world.

I can’t wait to see how this movement continues to grow in our agency and across the state in the coming months, as I’m continually hearing from people who are interested in going “beyond the hour” – which is the goal! If you’re interested in learning more, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
